What is an Advanced Income Tax Calculator?
An Advanced Income Tax Calculator is a comprehensive tool designed for FY 2025-26 (AY 2026-27) that helps you compute your exact tax liability under both Old Regime and New Regime. It handles age-based slabs, marginal relief, professional tax, and provides a complete break-even analysis.
Unlike basic calculators, this tool includes senior citizen slabs (60-80 years: ₹3L exemption; above 80 years: ₹5L exemption), marginal relief under Section 87A, and offers break-even analysis showing exactly how many deductions you need to make the Old Regime beneficial.
Income Tax Slabs for FY 2025-26
New Regime (Default)
₹0-4L: Nil | ₹4-8L: 5% | ₹8-12L: 10% | ₹12-16L: 15% | ₹16-20L: 20% | ₹20-24L: 25% | Above ₹24L: 30%
Old Regime (Below 60 years)
₹0-2.5L: Nil | ₹2.5-5L: 5% | ₹5-10L: 20% | Above ₹10L: 30%
Old Regime (Senior Citizens 60-80 years)
₹0-3L: Nil | ₹3-5L: 5% | ₹5-10L: 20% | Above ₹10L: 30%
Old Regime (Super Senior 80+ years)
₹0-5L: Nil | ₹5-10L: 20% | Above ₹10L: 30%
Marginal Relief Under Section 87A
Under the New Regime, if your taxable income is up to ₹12,00,000, you get a full tax rebate. For income between ₹12L and ₹12.75L, marginal relief applies — tax payable cannot exceed the income earned above ₹12L. So someone earning ₹12.05L pays only ₹5,000 tax, not ₹90,000+.
Break-Even Analysis
The break-even point shows the minimum deductions you need for the Old Regime to be more beneficial. If your deductions exceed this value, Old Regime saves you more tax. This unique feature helps you make an informed regime choice.
Professional Tax
Professional Tax is a state-level tax deducted by employers from salaried individuals. It typically ranges from ₹2,000 to ₹2,500 per year and is deductible under Section 16(iii) in the Old Regime only.
