NPS Tax Deduction Rules Explained
- Section 80CCD(1) [Within 80C Limit]: Up to ₹1,50,000 deduction on self-contributions (subject to 10% of salary for salaried individuals or 20% of gross income for self-employed).
- Section 80CCD(1B) [Exclusive Bonus]: Additional ₹50,000 exclusive tax deduction over and above the ₹1.5 lakh Section 80C limit.
- Section 80CCD(2) [Employer Contribution]: Employer contributions up to 10% of Basic + DA (14% for Central Govt employees) are completely tax-free without any upper rupee ceiling under Section 80C.
- Tax-Free Maturity: 60% lumpsum withdrawal at age 60 is 100% tax-free under current income tax rules.
